The site opens at 1pm, and it's requested that guests do not arrive before this time. The site closes at 12am.
Directions:
From the South: Take the A1 and turn onto the B1340. Follow the signs for Seahouses. The site is located a quarter mile north of Beadnall, just around a bend opposite the sea/beach.
From the North: Take the A1 and then the B1342 from Bamburgh. Make a right turn in Bamburgh onto the B1340 for Seahouses. Continue through Seahouses along the Coast Road for Beadnall. The site is situated on a bend opposite the sea/beach.

W from Newcastle leave A69 tn onto B6530 SP Corbridge. In town tn L onto B6321 SP Hexham. Over bridge to rdbt, bear L then follow rly stn signs. Site on the L in 0.5m.
Corbridge is a beautiful village on the banks of the Tyne with many attractions. It has shops, restaurants (Chinese, Indian & Italian), pubs and coffee shops as well as an award winning Farm shop with Pick Your Own facilities. The local tourist information office has a range of leaflets with information on walks and cycle routes in and around Corbridge. It is a perfect touring base for Northumberland and for visiting places like the Roman Wall, Keilder Water & Forest, the City of Newcastle and for those who love shopping, the Gateshead Metro Centre. If you don?t want to drive there is public transport available to many destinations with a bus stop and railway station just outside the site.

Black Middens Bastle House; English Heritage.

Black Middens Bastle House is situated in an isolated spot on the north side of the
Tarset Valley.
A Bastle House is a fortified or defensible farmhouse; peculiar to the Border Country
between England and Scotland.
Most were built between the mid 16 th century to the mid 17 th century in response to
cross boarder raids.
Living accommodation was on the first floor, while animals were kept on the ground
floor.
Bastles were often built in clusters so that the inhabitants were within easy reach of
their neighbours and could provide one another with support.
These were normally homes for the rich freeholders, lairds, and heads of border clans.
